Simone La Maida is an Italian alto saxophone player, composer and arranger, taught by Hal Crook, mostly famous for his works as the first Alto Sax of “Colours Jazz Orchestra” playing for Kenny Wheeler, Bob Brookemeyer, Bob Mintzer, Maria Schneider, Toninho Horta, Ronnie Cuber and many others.

During the years he established himself as a prolific jazz player, composer and arranger playing amongst famous national and international artists such as Flavio Boltro, Fabrizio Bosso, Marco Tamburini, Giulio Capiozzo, Cameron Brown, Tony Scott, Jimmy Owens, Norma Winston, Rez Abbasi, etc etc, and gigging around the world in important festivals like Umbria Jazz, Barga Jazz, Terrasa Jazz Festival (Barcelona), Ginza Jazz Festival (Tokyo), European Jazz Expo, and many others.

His passion for composing & arranging, interpretation and research brought him to lead an experimental trio with Alessandro Paternesi on drums and Gabriele Evangelista on double bass.
